Your Guide to Denture Care

If you are considering getting dentures or already have them, it’s very likely that you may have some questions about denture care. Here is some useful information about denture care to make sure they last you many years to come.

*It is very important that each night you remove your dentures before bed to keep the    lining of your mouth healthy and to allow the tissues to breathe.

*Brush your teeth and gums carefully, using a soft toothbrush, and also don’t forget to    massage your gums.

*Remember to clean your dentures on a daily bases with denture cleaning solutions, for    example, Polident. Although dentures are artificial teeth, bacteria, plaque and tartar can  still stick to partial or complete dentures, just like it does on natural teeth.

*Try to avoid toothpaste for natural teeth on dentures as they may be too abrasive and  scratch the denture.

*Soaking your dentures overnight is also a great idea. You can soak them in a denture  cleanser, in warm water mixed with vinegar or just warm water on its own. If your  denture has metal claps only soak in warm water as the vinegar may tarnish them.  Soaking will loosen any plaque or tartar on the denture.
